Once Again

They say if you make something idiot-proof better idiots will begin showing up. Once again we have another kid stuck in a claw machine. Maybe we should just fill one of these machines up with kids and then when adults want one can just come along feed it a few quarters and have at it.

What The????

Ever since the late 70's when Xerox broke new ground with the "Xerox monk commercials" Monks have intrigued me. Not that I would want to be one (even though I have the hair style for it) but they seem to be such happy and content folks.
Well 30 years later it seems that the Monks can't scribe fast enough to keep with the high speed copiers and printers of today. So what's a Monk to do? branch out and diversify is what I say. That's just what the "Laser Monks" have done. Not only selling you needed copier and printer supplies but chocolates as well. Those are some crafty Monks...

Is It Fondue or Fon"Don't"?

After "The Strikers" suffered it's first lost in over a season "The Wife" announced that we were having fondue for dinner. I believe this was her failed attempt to cheer us up after the loss, I was more bummed out than "H" was.
After the general concept of fondue was explained to the kids followed by the promise of chocolate fondue for desert, the kids agreed that "It sounded fun". With "The Wife" lovingly gazing into my eyes she asked "Do you remember how much fun it was last time we had fondue?" Not being one able to remember last week my only reply was "Yeah, no make that hell yeah, it was a blast".
Back at "Casa de Frick" we cracked open a bottle of Yellow Tail Merlot and proceeded to slice and dice chicken and veggies.
Now lets fast forward almost a whole hour, the fondue pot resembles a pile of pick up sticks from all the forks shoved in it, no one can remember which color fork was theirs and after 45 minutes of cooking we have each only eaten 2 or 3 pieces of chicken, at this rate we'll finish dinner at midnight. At this point I know I must do something drastic, so we strip the forks of their wears and dump all of the remaining uncooked morsels into the pot "Bam" 6 minutes later we are eating. Now the desert part was easier and quicker. With half the house being female and thinking that chocolate is Gods way of saying he likes us, they would just as well not even wait for the chocolate to melt before shoving into their mouths.
After dinner "The Wife" and I settled down to watch "Rent" and close out the day. We started to recall out last fondue experience and here are the details: it was 17 years ago, there were no children involved and it was at a restaurant (we didn't have to clean up) no wonder we had a good time.

Interesting Blog

This post is directed more towards the male readers than those of the female persuasion. Check out "ShaveBlog", as one that shaves his head as well as most of the real estate on his face this site is informative and intriguing.
From his reviews of the double-edge safety razors that I grew up watching my Dad use to his descriptions of badger hair shaving brushes Corey makes me almost look forward to shaving in the morning. In case you are wondering my personal endorsement for shaving your melon is none other than the "Head Blade".

Frick's World Travel Tip #20

Never and I mean never sit/lay/pass out drunk on a hotel room bedspread, especially if you are naked.
The above photo is visible proof of what can happen to the bedspread before you ever check into your room. The shirt and towel are both soaked in sweat and the shoes have been, well they're shoes so they have been dragged through all kinds of stuff. Now I'm not going to tell you what town or hotel this was taken in lets just call it a game of "Bedspread Roulette".

Truth In Advertising?????

I doing a little web-surfing this morning (research as I like to call it) and I stumble across this add for "The Big & Beautiful People Network". Now from looking at the text on the banner I would think that this site is for people that, how would you say, weigh a little more than the Olson twins (combined). No, the folks in the picture seem to be of a weight that I'm envious of. Well then maybe it's for folks that are lets say 6'5" or taller. No, all the pictures seem to show people of an average height, once again there's that twinge of jealousy. Well then maybe it's a BIG (because they have so many members) network filled with just beautiful people, because I sure haven't seen one ugly person on their whole site. I guess I'm just confused.

Here's Your Sign

So anyways I'm up in Rockville, Maryland for the early part of the week and the group decides to walk down the block to feed our face some big time Mexican lunch.
I have found through my travels that no matter what town, city or state you are in and no matter what Mexican restaurant you stop in for a bite they all have a "Speedy" plate on the lunch menu.
We were heading back to the office and we came across the sign below. "No Loitering" complete with 3 chairs now that's someone being an absolute genius.

This Has Just Gotta Scare The Seeing Eye Dogs

Blind Students Required To Pass Driver's Ed

(AP) CHICAGO Most high school students eagerly await the day they pass driver's education class. But Mayra Ramirez is indifferent about it. Ramirez is blind, yet she and dozens of other visually impaired sophomores in Chicago's public school system are required to pass a written rules-of-the-road exam in order to graduate -- a rule they say takes time away from learning material they might actually use. "LINK"

Another example of our elected officials really thinking things through. I am surprised they don't make these blind kids try and solve a Rubiks Cube.
For crying out load I have a seeing enabled child (that's so very PC) with a learners permit and who has already managed to bounce a car off of a cement curb.

Brent Johnston, a teacher at a suburban high school and chairman of the Illinois High School/College Driver's Education Association, told the Chicago Tribune that the classes aren't a waste of time for blind students. "I don't think you can ever get enough traffic safety," Johnston said. "Still, this shouldn't be the school's decision; it should be mom and dad's decision. A little commonsense would go a long way."

I couldn't have said it better myself all we want is just a little common sense, not a lot just a little. I guess it's kind of like taking swimming lessons and then when your done being told you can go swimming but just don't get wet.

She's Back (Kind Of)

Last year I just had a blast with the "Runaway Bride". Something is just plain funny about someone melting completely down right before their wedding, leaving the state, making up lies and then your boyfriend still sticking byyour side. It seems that our local minor league hockey team "The Gladiators" decided to have one of those great minor league promotions/giveaways last weekend with a "Runaway Bride Bobblehead Doll". Now as everyone knows your bobblehead doll has to have a name and these marketing geniuses named this one the "Runaway Bride Any Similarity to Actual Persons is Unintended and Purely Coincidental" bobblehead doll. The first 1000 people at the game received one of theses and reportedly the supply was deleted in just 10 minutes. Now if I was lucky enough to have walked away with one of these trinkets where would I put it you might ask. Well to tell you the truth I would put it in the only place that a treasure as priceless as this should exist "eBay" check it out. Ain't America great.............

COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT

ABBOTT AND COSTELLO:

You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello, but too old to really understand computers to fully appreciate this. For those of us who sometimes get flustered by our computers, enjoy, reflect and remember what real comedians were like. Those of you who are too young to remember this hilarious duo should make every attempt to watch their videos, DVD's or search for them on the "oldies" TV channel. It will be worth your time to really laugh.
If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, "Who' s on First?" might have gone something like this:

COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: Thanks. I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer.

ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou.

ABBOTT: Your computer?
COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.

ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou.

ABBOTT: What about Windows?
COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?

ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?
COSTELLO: I don't know. What will I see when I look at the windows?

ABBOTT: Wallpaper.
COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.

ABBOTT: Software for Windows?
COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What do you have?

ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?

ABBOTT: I just did.
COSTELLO: You just did what?

ABBOTT: Recommend something.
COSTELLO: You recommended something?

ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: For my office?

ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?

ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!

ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.
COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, let's just say I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?

ABBOTT: Word.
COSTELLO: What word?

ABBOTT: Word in Office.
COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.

ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.
COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?

ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue "W".
COSTELLO: I'm going to click your blue "w" if you don't start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with?

ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: That's right. What do you have?

ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?

ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.
COSTELLO: What's bundled with my computer?

ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?

ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge.
COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?

ABBOTT: One copy.
COSTELLO: Isn't it illegal to copy money?

ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.
COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?

ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!

A few days later:

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?

ABBOTT: Click on "START"

Overheard In The Office

Copier Technician: Sir, your software isn't compatible with this machine. It's outdated.
Office Manager: Well, the sales guy promised it would work.
Copier Technician: Did you try it out before you bought it?
Office Manager: No, I trusted the sales guy that it would do what he said it would do.
Copier Technician: Well, this isn't the first time you've dealt with a sales person, is it? When I make a significant purchase, I try it before I sign the contract.
Office Manager: How you ever going to get married, son?
Copier Technician: Sorry?
Office Manager: I said how you ever going to get married?
Copier Technician: I am married, sir.
Office Manager: Well, did you try out your wife before you got married?
Copier Technician: What?

New Desk Toy

I love desk toys, I have a mini remote control car, a pack of gum that shocks you, a small everlast punching bag, etc...... all within easy reach just in case I find myself in the office.
After a few weeks on the road I stopped by "Staples" over weekend to stock upon road supplies and I came across an EASY BUTTON (See crappy camera phone picture) taken right from the Staples commercials.
Hit the big red button and this things belts out "That was easy". Hit it "That was easy" hit it again "That was easy" get the picture. Matter of fact we ended a painfully long conference call this afternoon by slapping that big red button and all we could hear on the other end of the phone was "Damn right this was easy"
Desk toys do rock.

Nice Tooth

A few months ago we had someone land a stolen airplane at the local airport. The police then arrested the alleged pilot of this stolen craft and he is now in jail awaiting trial. Well it now seems the pilot's parents are complaining that their bouncing baby boy's mouth is suffering from the ravages of gingivitis. Why you ask? Well because the jail will not allow dental floss to be in the possession of the inmates. I can think of at least a million reasons why I would not want the prison population to be in possession of something capable of severing a human neck.
Now the local Sheriff wanting to accommodate this alleged pilot's parents request (I just love this next part) has moved this young man so that he can share a cell with Bart Corbin. Who is Bart Corbin? You see Bart Corbin is charged with murder in the death of his wife but aside from that he is also a trained dentist.
This is an example of a Sheriff killing 2 birds with one stone... "LINK"

Now always being one to offer a solution whenever a problem arises. I propose passing out "Oral Brush Ups" to all of the prisoners. And from the looks of these things I'm sure the inmates could find a few more uses for em'

Curious George

Well as everyone has heard by now it seems that George Michael has been busted for drugs. "LINK"
Now George has been the butt of many a joke, is he gay? Is he straight? Is that him hiding behind the public restroom door? His "Faith" album was well done and the tunes still sound good almost 20 years later.
OK, enough of this feel good crap it's now time for the first Frick's World Public Service Announcement.
Hey all you big time rock stars, actors, authors etc.... you guys are loaded down with cash. If you are going to partake in the wilder side of life by entering "Crack-head Canyon" do yourself a favor and take some of that hard earned cash and hire someone to go and fetch your drugs for you. Believe me America is tired of hearing about how you were found and then subsequently arrested while slumped over the steering wheel of your exotic sled with a couple of plastic bags "Mothers Little Helper" on the laying on the floorboard. Just a little Public Relations advice from little ol' me.

An Invitation To Get Screwed

I eat a bunch of meals on the road and a bunch of those meals are eaten alone in a hotel room with just the TV as my dining partner, but don't feel sorry for me, really, and I'm traveling alone I will occasionally eat fast food (Shhhhh, I can hear myself getting fat).
When doing the fast food thing I never go through the drive thru because it is an opportunity to get screwed. Those counter lizards can't get an order right to save their ass. Yeah, they can get you your food in less than the 60 seconds (like the consultants advise) but your always missing something. For example last night we went out to babysit for our God Children and decided to make a run for the border and grab some Taco Hell to eat while watching the kids. Now I do like Taco Hell, where else can you eat dinner for $4.00. The order was very simple 4 combo meals (2 with diet Pepsi and 2 with regular Pepsi) a spicy chicken burrito and some hot sauce, pretty simple. What did we get but 4 regular Pepsi's no chicken burito, no hot sauce and no napkins. I bet those consultants have even have a line item on the P&L for drive thru screwings. I can just imagine how much money a restaurant can save by shorting someone a spoon, straws napkins etc...... Most of the time we are home before we notice the discrepancy, Yea, I know it's part our fault for not checking our order before we leave but damn you would think some acne ridden 17 year old would be able to get something right since he is reading off of a monitor.

CLARK COUNTY
Woman's Arm Severed In Car Accident

A Letcher County woman suffered a horrible injury early Thursday when her arm was severed in a car crash on the Mountain Parkway in Clark County.

Jacqueline Dotson and her six-year-old daughter had to be cut out of their vehicle after the accident in which Dotson veered into the median and over-corrected, rolling her truck over the guardrail and landing upside down after flipping several times.

Several people stopped to help, and it turns out, the good samaritans may very well have saved Dotson's life. Sheila Vice, a nurse's aide, and an off-duty EMT from another county stopped to help, and put a tourniquet on Dotson's arm to stop the bleeding. Her arm was found near the accident still clutching a cell phone.

"Basically we stayed there and talked to them until the EMT drivers got there," said Vice.

Rescuers used the jaws of life to get the Dotson and her daughter out of the truck. Both were flown to hospitals, and Dotson is listed in serious condition at UK Hospital. Her daughter is not in the hospital, and sheriff's officials say they believe she's going to be fine.

Both were wearing seat belts. "LINK"

A month or so ago I had the opportunity (lucky me) to snap a picture of a local with a ladder strapped sideways across the top of his van "LINK". I figured that it was a one time thing, kind of like a UFO sighting. I might have a picture but friends and family would still be skeptical.
Well it seems that others have seen the same. "Huntfish" sent me this picture that he snapped on another local highway. No wonder Atlanta is the crushed ladder capital of the world.

Man Sinks $200,000 Yacht Rather Than Lose It In Divorce
POSTED: 12:39 pm EDT September 29, 2005
UPDATED: 1:18 pm EDT September 29, 2005
A British man sunk his $200,000 yacht in southwest England Wednesday rather than let his estranged wife sell it for a knockdown price after the couple decided to break up.Briton Mark Bridgewood, 49, was so angry that his wife had put his luxury boat up for a low price that he rowed out to the vessel under the cover of darkness and sank it in Dartmouth Harbor, in southwest England. The final straw in the couple's bitter break up came when Tracey Bridgewood advertised the yacht in a local newspaper last week, saying she wanted a quick sale and was prepared to let the yacht go for $72,000.After that, Bridgewood armed himself with an axe and scuttled the yacht, called "Rebel"."It's sacrilege to have a boat of this quality sunk on the bottom," harbor master Capt. David White said. "It's like tearing up 5-pound notes and throwing them away, it really is."
Authorities floated the vessel to the surface and pumped out water before taking it to a nearby boat yard."It must have been one hell of an argument," a resident said.Police plan to charge Bridgewood $18,000 for sinking the yacht and for recovery costs.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.

Walmart Vineyard

I just love Walmart. No matter what small town I end up in I can always find a Walmart to pick up whatever odds & ends I might be needing. Matter of fact I bought a new TV there this morning. Well it seems that news on the street Huggie Bear is that Walmart will begin selling their own private lable wines.

Some Walmart customers soon will be able to sample a new discount item: Walmart's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is teaming up with E&J Gallo Winery of Modesto, California, to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $2-5 range. While wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Walmart brand wine into their shopping carts, there is a market for cheap wine, said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. She said: "The right name is important."

So, here we go: The top 12 suggested names for Walmart Wine:

12. Chateau Traileur Parc
11. White Trashfindel
10. Big Red Gulp
9. Grape Expectations
8. Domaine Wal-Mart "Merde du Pays" [Kruse, Keith M] (Translated "Shit of the Land")
7. NASCARbernet
6. Chef Boyardeaux
5. Peanut Noir
4. Chateau des Moines
3. I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar!
2. World Championship Riesling

And the number 1 name for Wal-Mart Wine ..

1. Nasti Spumante

A Little Late Weighing In On This One

Lets see Britney's rapping husband K-Fed was nominated as "Father Of The Year" so it's only fitting that we now nominate Britney as "Mother Of The Year". It's amazing that in this country you need a license to drive a car, get married, even cut hair, but you don't need to have a license to a baby. No tests or exams no required classes no nothing......
I would imagine that Britney & K-Feds' little bundle of joy would end up with snapped neck from the airbag exploding in his face or maybe he would end up with the "Escalade" emblem (you don't think she's driving a KIA do you) from the steering wheel tattooed in the middle of his forehead if Miss Britney managed to bounce the Escalade off some sort of an immobile or mobile object as she was fleeing the poparattzi. Isn't that what happened to Princess Diana? Oh wait she was rolling in a Benz.
Maybe ole' Brit figured little Sean Preston was safer with her in any situation than being left with K-Fed.

Where's My Babies Daddy

In case your not from around here you may have never heard of "Lisa Clark".
Well in a nutshell here's her story. She's 37 she gets impregnated by a 14 year old, they are in love, they get married last November. Since then she has been brought up on molestation charges, well he was 14 after all.
Our little groom is no saint either he was in a juvenile home on a probation violation he then escaped from the juvenile home. Our pregnant blushing bride unknowingly even aided in the arrest of her 14 year old husband by mailing him a cell phone and a bag of cash (all 14 year olds need a cell phone) while the cops looked on. The baby is due in the next 10 to 15 days so I would say that gives our little love birds time to get their act together.
Now here is my favorite part lots of people have pictures of pregnant brides in wedding dresses but how many kids have a picture of their Mom pregnant, in court wearing handcuffs and while their Dad (who is 15 ) is also under arrest.

Balloon in car creates XL explosion
Tuesday, February 7, 2006; Posted: 8:40 a.m. EST (13:40 GMT)

SHERIDAN, Colorado (AP) -- A couple planning to set off their own Super Bowl pyrotechnics accidentally blew up their own car while transporting a balloon filled with an explosive gas.

Norman Frey, 46, and his companion suffered busted eardrums in the explosion Sunday as they drove to a party for Super Bowl XL, according to the Arapahoe County sheriff.

The balloon had been filled with acetylene, a flammable gas used in welding, and it had rolled across the back seat, possibly causing static electricity that ignited the gas.

The explosion broke windows, bent doors outwards and pushed up the roof about a foot.

"Looking at the car closely, it's amazing that these people weren't killed," Sheriff Grayson Robinson said.

Several people reported the explosion, but when a deputy arrived, Frey and the woman had abandoned the vehicle.

The license plate led them to Frey, who faces a felony charge of possession, use, or removal of explosives or incendiary devices. The woman will not be charged, authorities said.

Sunday Afternoon Project

"The Wife" asked me to help her with a project this afternoon. I got all giddy as my eyes spied what appeared to be a blank "Twister" mat. "The Wife" then proceeds to inform me that we have to draw and color 20 hearts on this blank Twister mat. Now my giddiness turns to glee as I think to myself that "The Wife" has entered us in the Valentine's Day Twister finals, and we were designing our practice field. I dove right in, then just a we were about to finish the project "The Wife" lets me know this is for her Kindergarten class so they can practice their "Word Wall Words". Fact Is Stranger than Fiction

No one could have written a better story. Man hits skids, heads for rehab, gets clean, writes a book (lies/stretch/fabricates the truth), ends up on Oprah, book sells (imagine that) even more copies, book ends up on the best seller list, all is good, "The Smoking Gun" starts snooping around (all is not good), rumors say that book is not all true, man goes on Larry King, Oprah calls into Larry King and defends man, oh no Oprah's fan are disappointed and feel mislead, Oprah call books publisher and asks to have author back on show to save face, man goes back on Oprah and gets slapped around a little bit by Oprah.
"BOOK IS ONCE AGAIN A BEST SELLER"

What a great story, what a great country. Now will Borders move this book over to the fiction section?
Dooubleday (the publisher) is more than likely trying to figure out what they can give Mr. Frey as a thank you gift for the recent spike in sales for this book.
I wonder who will play James Frey in the movie, yes there will be a movie........

SOMETHING LIKE THIS COMES AROUND EVERY NOW AND THEN -
THIS IS ONE OF THE BETTER ONES.

For Those who Reed and Right
We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes;
but the plural of ox became oxen not oxes.

One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
yet the plural of moose should never be meese.

You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice;
yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.

If the plural of man is always called men,
why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?

If I spoke of my foot and show you my feet,
and I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?

If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth, why
shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?

Then one may be that, and three would be those,
yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
and the plural of cat is cats, not cose.

We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
but though we say mother, we never say methren.

Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
but imagine the feminine, she, shis and shim.

Let's face! it! - English is a crazy language.

There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor
pine in pineapple.
English muffins weren't invented in England. We take English for
granted.

But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work
slowly,
Boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is
it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't
groce and hammers don't ham?

Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend?
If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of
them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

Sometimes I think all the folks who grew up speaking English
should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.

In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a
recital?
Ship by truck and send cargo by ship?
Have noses that run and feet that smell?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man
and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your
house can burn up as it burns down,

in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm
goes off by going on.

If Dad is Pop, how's come Mom isn't Mop?

-----------------------------------

When you write copy you have the right to copyright the copy you write,
if the copy is right.

If however, your copy falls over, you must right your copy.

If you write religious services you write rite, and have the right to
copyright the rite you write.

Very conservative people write right copy, and have the right to
copyright the right copy they write. A right wing cleric would write right
rite, and has the right to copyright the right rite he has the right to
write. His editor has the job of making the right rite copy right before
the copyright can be right.

Should Jim Wright decide to write right rite, then Wright would write
right rite, which Wright has the right to copyright.

Duplicating that rite would copy Wright right rite, and violate
copyright, which Wright would have the right to right.

Right?

"It's seems that there are just some things you shouldn't say when the microphones are on, are these things on?"... Mayor Ray Nagin Wonka

It's A Brand New Year

I was in my office the other morning and looked down at my "Paper Airplane A Day" calendar. I noticed that the date on the calendar was 1/4/2006 I then looked at my watch and saw that the date was really 1/18/2006, so I guess my kids are right I am living in the past.

Deal Of The Day

I picked up this jewel of a DVD for less than $5.00. Now I am not a stark raving U2 fan, but they will go down in history as one of the most influential bands. "Rattle and Hum" filmed almost 20 years ago, shot in black & white with Miami Vice style editing this DVD is as timeless as the movie was when it was released.

I've Been Looking For These

The Frick's World clan went to Target (the official sponsor of Frick's World) this afternoon to pick up a few things. "The Wife" and I now know what do with the kids when we want a night out or a weekend away. We can just run by Target and stash the kids in the "Youth Storage" area .

My Karma Ran Over Your Dogma

I am a big believer in "Karma" especially when it comes to travel and even more focused when it involves airlines/airports. I never miss the chance to help someone lift a bag into the overhead or offer them my paper when I'm done reading it. I guess I figure that all this niceness will come back to me in the form of catching an earlier flight, getting an upgrade or not being subjected to a weather delay as I am trying to get home. Hey, what goes around comes around.......
Yesterday I arrived at the West Palm airport a few hours early in hopes of catching an earlier flight home, no dice, maybe not enough available karma. The upgrade list had over 15 names on it, again maybe not enough available karma. Well we finally board and guess what there is an empty seat between me and the slightly stressed out PBX sales chick. An empty seat next to me, really maybe some of that karma stuff is kicking in, I just knew I had some left.
I raise the arm rest and start letting my body expand so as to take up as much of Delta's precious real estate as I possibly could. All of a sudden in the row in front of me a lady with baby takes up residence. The key word in that last sentance in case you missed was "BABY". An 11 month bundle of someone's joy. Mother and daughter get the diaper bag, purse and backpack stowed and proceed to sit down and buckle in for the flight. Then all of a sudden from left field the stressed out PBX sales chick taps Mom on the shoulder and offers to switch seats with her. I am totally taken back by this offer for a couple of reasons.
  1. Right now we don't have a baby sitting in the same row that we are and we have an empty seat too boot.
  2. Once the stressed out PBX sales chick has her offer accepted she still won't be sitting in the same isle as a baby.
  3. I don't like anyone trying to out karma me, especially when it comes to travel karma. Cause I was getting ready to offer the new Mom my seat so she and her little bundle could have some extra room, well not really..........
Well of course Mom and the baby accepted the stressed out PBX sales chicks offer. And another flight home begins
